  1. Please download the oTranCe setup routine from http://sourceforge.net/projects/otrance/.
  2. Unpack it and upload the folder /public/ to your web server using an FTP client of your choice. Please do not change the name of this folder.
  3. It is recommended to map the URL for your oTranCe installation to the /public/ folder now. For example http://translate.your_project.org --> http://www.your_project.org/public/.
  4. Please create a new database for your oTranCe installation either using the command line, a database management system or your hosting provider's GUI tool.
  5. Fire up your browser to your installation now: http://{your_url}/setup/. If everything went ok, you shall see the check for system requirements first:

If everything is ok, please proceed the setup by clicking on the continue button or wait until the the next step will automatically be entered. If something doesn't fit with your system requirements, please fix it on your server or turn to your hosting provider.
  6. Now the needed files for your installation will be downloaded from otrance.org and extracted to your server. If you don't want your server to download the application from our oTranCe server, you can also manually install oTranCe with a bit of technical knowledge.
  7. In the next step, you will be asked for your database credentials. Please provide the database name, location, user name and password here. "MySQL Server Socket" is only used in very seldom configurations and usually can be left blank.

Safe your work now. The setup routine now tries to create a database which is not allowed on several server configurations, that's why we did it already manually in step #3. Anyway you might get a yellow warning message in the header telling you "The database otrance already exists. To overwrite all tables with the given prefix click on "Continue", or use different MySQL settings." Proceed by clicking on the continue button.

  8. Installation step #4 just tells you which tables have been created and if the creation was successful. If everything went fine, you may continue to the next step.
  9. In the last installation step, please enter your project details. The screen shall be self-explaining:
